The Fukuhara Group traces its origins back to 1921, when my great-grandfather, Arinobu Fukuhara, the founder of Shiseido, established Shiseido Pharmacy (Japan’s first Western-style pharmacy). In that year, Shinzō Fukuhara, the first president of Shiseido, reorganized the business into two separate entities: Fukuhara Partnership Company (now Fukuhara Corporation) and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (now Shiseido). The purpose was to transition Shiseido from a personal enterprise into a modern corporation.

For over a century since then, our family has continued to build its legacy in Ginza, Tokyo, where the Fukuhara Group has evolved from a company focused primarily on property management (PM) into a diversified organization. Today, our business spans insurance, building management, creative production, lifestyle services, entertainment and cultural ventures (including music halls and art programs), dining and food retail, event production, and travel. Through our eight group companies, we are committed to creating new value and inspiring experiences.

At the heart of our philosophy lies a belief I hold dear: “A person’s life is shaped by fortune and connections — fortune is given from above, but connections are created by one’s own will.”
Our founder, Arinobu Fukuhara, was not only the founder of Shiseido but also a pioneering entrepreneur behind companies such as Imperial Life Insurance (now Asahi Life Insurance) and Dainippon Pharmaceutical (now Sumitomo Pharma). His ventures consistently offered new value to people living through Japan’s era of modernization. Today, we carry forward that same spirit of challenge and creativity — learning from our history while striving to deliver empathy and inspiration to people living in our own time.
